The Morning After My Son’s Funeral, an Airport Worker Called and Said, “Your Son Checked In”

years in rooms like this one listening to people explain themselves. I have heard every version of I didn’t mean for it to go that far. I heard that sentence in an airport parking garage the day after I buried him.
